How is your baby growing when 28 Weeks Pregnant?
Your baby now measures 25cm from head to bottom and weighs about 1kg. There is far less space for them to move about in your uterus now, and you may find they find a comfortable position and remain there. If the baby’s head is uppermost, don’t worry, as there is still plenty of time for them to turn. Vernix, a white, creamy substance, now covers your baby’s skin to protect it from the amniotic fluid.
What You May Feel
The third trimester, while exciting, may also bring with it several pregnancy issues. You may experience swollen feet and hands, and many mums find they have to remove their wedding rings. If this swelling occurs suddenly, contact your midwife or doctor, as they need to ensure you are not suffering from pre-eclampsia. Heartburn and reflux can also get worse, and you may experience lower-back pain as your bump continues to grow. While this may all be exhausting, it’s essential to take care of yourself, and if you have any concerns, don’t be afraid to talk to your doctor or midwife.
Tips when you are 28 Weeks Pregnant
As the end of your pregnancy approaches, booking a regular massage is worth considering. From specific pregnancy massages or even acupuncture, there are trained practitioners that can help ease your discomfort in the final weeks. It could be just what you need to keep increasing aches and pains at bay. Remember, it can be harder to pamper yourself once your baby arrives.
